Susann Brännström
In my paintings I try to keep free of tradition, but at the same time make use of a simple, formal style of painting where colour, form and composition are the three most important elements. My aim is to discover if pictorial structures associated with different painting styles lose their original meaning in their meeting with each other and open up new concepts. In this way I try to make the contemporary present, and perceive the inaccessible on a metaphysical level.
SUSÄNN BRÄNNSTRÖM was born in 1956 and graduated from the Royal Art Academy in Stockholm, Sweden. She has exhibited widely internationally and her solo exhibitions include the Östersund Art Museum, Sweden, and most recently Xiamen University in China in 2005. Her works are permanently installed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and she has completed several public commissions for the city of Stockholm. Ms. Brännström currently resides and works in Stockholm, Sweden.
